Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how oneSlash (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Chicago, Illinois, collects, uses, and shares information when you use Aaside, our macOS application, and this website (collectively, the “Service”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Notes and captures — text, images, screenshots, and metadata you save through the app (such as note type, completion status, and custom categories).
- Context metadata — the active application name and capture time associated with a note, when you use capture features.
- Account information — your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, the basic profile details those providers share with us (such as your name).
- Support communications — messages you send us when requesting help.
Information collected automatically
- Device and app data — macOS version, app version, crash logs, and basic diagnostic information to keep the Service reliable.
- Website usage — standard server logs when you visit this site (IP address, browser type, pages viewed), including when you download the app installer.
- Subscription and billing data — plan type and subscription status if you subscribe to Aaside Pro. Aaside Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Mac App Store. Apple processes your payment and manages your billing details (such as card numbers) directly — we never receive or store them. We receive limited transaction information from Apple (such as your subscription status and renewal date) to activate Pro features on your account.
AI classification (Pro)
If you use Aaside Pro, note content you capture may be sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic) solely to suggest note classification (for example, Action Item, My Task, or Idea). This happens through our backend, not directly from your device, and no AI provider credentials are ever stored on or exposed by the app. We do not use your note content to train AI models.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Sync your notes across your devices
- Activate and manage Aaside Pro subscriptions purchased through the Mac App Store, and provide customer support
- Send service-related notices (not marketing, unless you opt in)
- Detect abuse, fraud, and security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Where your data is stored
- Cloud storage — your notes, captures, and account data are stored in our database, hosted by our infrastructure provider (Supabase), and are the authoritative copy of your data. Access is scoped to your account and protected by row-level access controls.
- On your device — Aaside keeps a local cache of your notes in the app’s Application Support folder so you can view and capture notes while offline. This cache stays in sync with your cloud data whenever you’re online.
- Cloud services — account, authentication, billing (via Apple), and AI classification features rely on third-party infrastructure providers we select to operate the Service.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers — including Apple (payment processing for Aaside Pro subscriptions), our database and authentication provider (Supabase), and our AI classification vendor (Anthropic), each under contractual confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.
5. macOS permissions
Aaside is designed to request as little from your Mac as possible. Context tagging (detecting which app was active when you captured a note) uses macOS’s standard NSWorkspace API and does not require Accessibility permission or any special entitlement. Aaside may also register a global keyboard shortcut for quick capture, and, if you enable “Launch at login,” register itself as a login item. You can review or revoke any of these in System Settings at any time; some features may not work without the relevant permission.
6. Data retention
Notes remain in your account (and in your device’s local cache) until you delete them. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from Settings in the app, using the account deletion option. Account and billing records may otherwise be retained as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
You can delete your account and data at any time from the app’s Settings. For any other request, visit our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
8. Managing your subscription
Aaside Pro is billed as an auto-renewing subscription through the Mac App Store. You can review, change, or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings, under Subscriptions. Canceling stops future renewals; your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.
9. Children
Aaside is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International users
If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the app or website where appropriate.
