This Privacy Policy describes how oneSlash (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Chicago, Illinois, collects, uses, and shares information when you use Aaside, our macOS application, and this website (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Notes and captures — text, images, screenshots, and metadata you save through the app (such as note type, completion status, and custom categories).
  • Context metadata — the active application name and capture time associated with a note, when you use capture features.
  • Account information — if you create an account, your email address and profile details.
  • Support communications — messages you send us when requesting help.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and app data — macOS version, app version, crash logs, and basic diagnostic information to keep the Service reliable.
  • Website usage — standard server logs when you visit this site (IP address, browser type, pages viewed), including when you download the app installer.
  • Subscription and billing data — plan type and billing state if you subscribe to Aaside Pro. Payment details (such as card numbers) are collected and processed directly by Stripe, not stored by us.

AI classification (Pro)

If you use Aaside Pro, note content you capture may be sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic) solely to suggest note classification (for example, Action Item, My Task, or Idea). We do not use your note content to train AI models.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service
  • Sync your notes across devices via iCloud Drive, when enabled
  • Process subscriptions through Stripe and provide customer support
  • Send service-related notices (not marketing, unless you opt in)
  • Detect abuse, fraud, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Where your data is stored

  • Locally — notes are stored on your Mac by default.
  • iCloud Drive — if you enable sync, notes are stored in your personal iCloud Drive under ~/Documents/Aaside/. This data is governed by Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy.
  • Cloud services — account, billing (via Stripe), and AI classification features may use third-party infrastructure providers we select to operate the Service.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers — including Stripe (payment processing), hosting, authentication, and AI classification vendors that help us operate the Service under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.

5. macOS permissions

Aaside may request macOS permissions to function — for example, to detect the active application for context tagging or to register a global capture shortcut. You can revoke permissions at any time in System Settings. Some features may not work without the relevant permission.

6. Data retention

Notes remain on your device (and in your iCloud account, if enabled) until you delete them. Account and billing records are retained as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of account data by contacting us.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Export your data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based

8. Children

Aaside is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. International users

If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the app or website where appropriate.
