Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Aaside, the macOS application and related website operated by oneSlash (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Chicago, Illinois. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Aaside is a macOS quick-capture app that helps you save notes with context. Features may include local storage, iCloud sync, AI-assisted classification (Pro), image attachments, and search. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Distribution. Aaside v1 is distributed as a direct download (.dmg installer) from this website. Distribution through the Mac App Store may be offered in the future. If that changes, we will update these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable laws.

3. Accounts

Some features may require an account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us through our Contact page.

4. Plans and billing

Free plan

The Free plan is available at no charge and includes core capture and organization features as described on our website.

Pro plan

Aaside Pro is a paid subscription (currently $4.99/month or $39.99/year, subject to change). Pro includes AI auto-classification and other Pro features listed on our pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date through your Stripe customer portal or account settings.

Payments

All Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your payment information is handled by Stripe in accordance with Stripe’s terms and privacy policy. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

Refunds

Refund eligibility is governed by applicable law and our refund policy as stated at the time of purchase. Contact us through our Contact page if you believe a charge was made in error.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service
• Upload malware or content that infringes others’ rights
• Circumvent usage limits, authentication, or payment requirements
• Use the Service in a way that harms us, other users, or third parties

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the notes and other content you create (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service — including AI classification when you use Pro features.

You represent that you have the rights needed for Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

Aaside, its branding, software, and website content (excluding Your Content) are owned by oneSlash and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on your Mac for personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms.

8. Third-party services

The Service may integrate with or rely on third-party services — including Apple iCloud, Stripe, and AI providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI CLASSIFICATIONS WILL ALWAYS BE ACCURATE. DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING SOFTWARE FROM THE INTERNET IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONESLASH WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will remain in effect.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice through the app or website.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
