Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Aaside, the macOS application and related website operated by oneSlash (“we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Chicago, Illinois. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Aaside is a macOS quick-capture app that helps you save notes with context. Features may include cloud sync, AI-assisted classification (Pro), image attachments, and search. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Distribution. Aaside is distributed through the Mac App Store. Your download, installation, and use of the app are also subject to Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard Apple EULA), which applies in addition to these Terms. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content, but is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable laws.

3. Accounts

Some features may require an account, which you can create with an email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us through our Contact page. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from Settings in the app.

4. Plans and billing

Free plan

The Free plan is available at no charge and includes core capture and organization features as described on our website.

Pro plan

Aaside Pro is a paid, auto-renewing subscription (currently $4.99/month or $39.99/year, subject to change) purchased through the Mac App Store. Pro includes AI auto-classification and other Pro features listed on our pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Payments

All Pro subscription payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID and the App Store. Your payment information is handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s terms and privacy policy — we never receive or store your payment details. You can manage, change, or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings, under Subscriptions.

Refunds

Because purchases are made through the App Store, refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s refund policies, not by us directly. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your purchase history in the App Store. Contact us through our Contact page for any other billing questions.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service
• Upload malware or content that infringes others’ rights
• Circumvent usage limits, authentication, or payment requirements
• Use the Service in a way that harms us, other users, or third parties

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the notes and other content you create (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service — including AI classification when you use Pro features.

You represent that you have the rights needed for Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

Aaside, its branding, software, and website content (excluding Your Content) are owned by oneSlash and protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with Apple’s standard EULA and these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Mac devices you own or control for personal or internal business purposes.

8. Third-party services

The Service may integrate with or rely on third-party services — including Apple (App Store distribution, sign-in, and subscription billing), Google (sign-in), our database and hosting provider, and AI providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI CLASSIFICATIONS WILL ALWAYS BE ACCURATE. DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING SOFTWARE FROM THE INTERNET IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONESLASH WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, including by deleting your account from Settings in the app. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, sections that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will remain in effect.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice through the app or website.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
